Welcome to my Avon 3-Day Breast Cancer fundraising page! Thank you for helping to fight for the cause - finding a cure for breast cancer.
As you may know this cause is near and dear to my heart. I am doing this walk in memory of my mom, Janine Stackpoole, and in honor of my mother-in-law, Kathy Toth, a breast cancer survivor. Two of the most incredibly amazing people who have touched my life and many, many others!
Last year I did the Chicago 3-Day with my sister, Michelle, sisters-in-law, Lisa and Jenny, and mother in-law, Kathy Toth. It was a great experience filled with happy memories. The best part is that together we raised over $12,000. Wow!
The Avon Breast Cancer 3-Days, in three years, have put over $65 million directly in the hands of breast cancer charities. That's more money, spent more quickly, than any other private event enterprise in the United States!
Hopefully, we will not have to continue the crusade much longer. IT IS POSSIBLE!
This year Michigan will be hosting an Avon 3-Day the weekend of May 31st - June 2nd. The walk will be from Ann Arbor to Detroit and I will be walking ALL 60 miles!
Here are some staggering facts with frightening numbers:
There are over 1,000,000 women living in the United States with undetected breast cancer. Seventy percent of those women have absolutely no risk factors for breast cancer.
In America this year, a new case of breast cancer will be diagnosed every 3 minutes. Every 13 minutes the disease will claim another life.
At least 1 out of every 9 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their life.
Now I need your help. I have made a financial commitment to raise a minimum of $2,000 by May 1st. You know that fundraising can be challenging - even in the best of times. Many things have changed in our world since September 11th, but the one thing we cannot do is let these horrific events change is our kindness.
The money raised will go towards non-profit breast health programs, state of the art medical research and to provide support for medically underserved women in the United States.
